Easy, healthier Salisbury Steak style Ground Beef Mashed Potatoes. Ground beef and onions swimming in a rich, dark gravy poured over garlic butter mashed potatoes and cauliflower. This is the ultimate comfort food in my books.
Add the potatoes and cauliflower into a large pot.
Add chicken broth to nearly cover the vegetables and a big pinch salt.
Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer until tender, abut 15-20 minutes.
While the vegetables cook, melt the butter in small saucepan.
Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the milk and heat until hot but not boiling.
Drain the cauliflower and potatoes in a colander, shaking several times to remove as much excess water as possible.
Return them to the pot and add the hot milk. Mash.
Season with salt and pepper.
Make the beef:
Cook the ground beef in a heavy skillet until browned and almost cooked through.
Add in the onion and cook for a few minutes until the onion has softened.
In a small bowl combine the water, cornstarch, sugar and soy sauce. Whisk well until completely combined.
Add the mixture into the beef, bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, and cook until thickened.
Serve the potatoes topped with the beef.

Notes
*you may not need all the broth, just make sure the vegetables are mostly covered. If you need more, just top up with water.**can use another pound of potatoes if you don’t want the cauliflower.
