They taste just like birthday cake!!
Ok friends, these blended Baked Oats with No Banana are for my banana dislikers.
I have no beef with bananas and I can’t even lie I say I don’t have any as if there aren’t 47 bananas in my freezer at any given time just hoping to be used someday. BUT! I don’t always want my oats to taste like banana. I will always choose chocolate over fruit for dessert and so sometimes I want to make my oatmeal taste good without fruit. And sometimes (most times) I want to feel like I’m eating dessert for breakfast.
This isn’t one of those scams where I promise this healthy breakfast tastes like cake and then you take a bite and realize that nope – does not taste like cake. This tastes like dessert! I promise. Plus, just look at that high rise…

Flavor Variations:
Nutella baked oats – add a tablespoon of nutella into the blender with the other ingredients and then blob a little on top when you take them out of the oven.
Peanut Butter (or any nut butter) baked oats – follow the above instructions for the Nutella baked oats.
Chocolate Baked Oats with No Banana – Add 1 Tbsp cocoa powder to the blender with the other ingredients. Use only dark chocolate chips.

Anything special you need to know?
The only thing to keep in mind with these easy oats is that the batter is quite thin, so if you want to add chocolate chips the timing does matter. If you add them right before baking they will sink to the bottom of the ramekin.
I often make these without chips and am very happy, but if you want them it’s easiest to just add them to the top immediately after you remove the oats from the oven. They’ll melt in a couple of minutes. I’ve also been known to risk my skin by sprinkling them on top halfway through baking. A smarter person would remove the oats from the oven before doing this and that is what I recommend if you want to try. 😉

What Ingredients do you need to make these Baked Oats with no Banana?
- Oats – old fashioned rolled oats
- Almond Flour – I’ve left this out with similar results, but I love to add in a little extra nutrition and almond flavor
- Baking Powder
- Sea Salt
- Eggs – I use large eggs
- Maple Syrup – I use pure maple syrup
- Milk – I use whole milk, but you can use unsweetened almond milk or any other unsweetened non-dairy milk of choice
- Vanilla Extract
- Almond Extract – the secret ingredient to give us that birthday cake flavor
- Chocolate Chips – I use white and dark. You can omit these.

FAQs about my Baked Oats with No Banana that taste like cake 😉
Yes! They keep well in the fridge for a couple of days and reheat quickly in the microwave in a minute or two.
I’m using eggs here instead of banana, but if you want to keep it vegan you can use whatever vegan egg substitute you would normally use in baking. You can also try and equal amount of applesauce or mashed sweet potato, or even just up the oats and the milk a bit. Lots of other ideas here.

Thanks for the recipe!
(Make sue to use non-gmo, organic oats as conventional ones are dirtied with glyphosate.)
Haha! You’re right. Where are you in Cananda? I do use organic oats and try to buy organic whenever possible. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
