Self-Indulgent foodie Chatter…
Buckle up friends. This cottage cheese toast is my new food obsession and I am hitting it hard. It’s even likely you will see nothing but cottage cheese toast around here for the next while.
If you’re dairy free, I’m sorry friend, this isn’t for you, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before someone invents plant based cottage cheese out of tree bark or something. I’ll let you know what I hear.
Cottage cheese toast is the new toast trend. The new accessible, user friendly toast trend. No stressing over attaining perfect avocado ripeness, it’s cheaper than ricotta toast, and yet it is still bougie enough to be impressive and cool… WITH the right toppings. Enter, me. I’m just here to help.

cottage cheese toast, the details…
This might be the most delicious 5 minute meal you’ll ever have. It’s immensely satisfying, incredibly delicious, super healthy, and it can be customized to be pretty much anything you want it to be. It works for breakfast, for lunch, for snack… I even eat it for dinner.
Step 1: spread some cottage cheese on your toasted, buttered bread. Butter is optional, but obviously recommended.
Step 2: layer on your toppings.
Step 3: for the sweet option step 3 will be eating (yay!). For the savoury option the toast is going to take a quick detour to the broiler and then you can move to step 3.a) eating.

Cottage Cheese Toast Topping Ideas:
Fruit – besides strawberries, any fruit will work. Apples & cinnamon, melons & mint, mango & lime, bananas & chocolate… all are delish.
Nuts – walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds are all good, or even a drizzle of nut butter would be yummy. Seeds work too… sunflower, sesame, pumpkin, hemp.
Honey – the sweet drizzle really makes the toast sing, but you can also use maple syrup, agave, warmed jam, dulce de leche…
Tomatoes – tomatoes are lovely on a savoury cottage cheese toast, but anything goes… cucumber, artichokes, olives, roasted broccoli or cauliflower or peppers.
Herbs – basil, mint, cilantro, parsley, dill, sage… all work.
Cheese – I use full fat cottage cheese and then a sprinkle of parmesan on my savoury toast, but try adding on any cheese you like! Feta, cheddar, asiago, goat… all great choices.
